Earthing: Connecting your Body

Earthing: Connecting your Body

Grounding: A Natural Way to Enhance Your Health

You may have come across the concept of earthing, also known as grounding. It involves connecting your body with the Earth to achieve positive health benefits. This connection can be made by walking barefoot outdoors or using our high-quality indoor grounding products.

Origins of Earthing
Earthing was pioneered by Clint Ober, an American entrepreneur with a background in the electronics industry, where grounding is used to prevent damage from electrical discharges. Ober applied this principle to human health, developing products like grounding sheets and mats that help release excess electrical charges from the body.

How Does Earthing Work?
Since the human body is composed of about 70% water, it acts like an antenna, absorbing low-frequency electrical voltages from buildings and electronics. Grounding products, like sheets woven with conductive silver threads, allow this electrical charge to flow into the Earth when connected to a grounding point, returning the body’s voltage to near-zero levels. While walking barefoot outdoors provides similar benefits, grounding products offer a practical indoor alternative.

Scientific Research on Earthing
Research published by The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has highlighted the health benefits of grounding.

  • Improved Sleep: Grounding reduces unnatural electrical charges in the body, helping to regulate cortisol levels and support healthy sleep-wake cycles. Participants in a six-week study experienced better sleep and reduced nighttime awakenings (Ghaly & Teplitz, 2004).
  • Reduced Inflammation: Grounding has been shown to lower inflammation markers, verified through infrared imaging and blood tests. Chronic inflammation is linked to numerous health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and skin conditions.
  • Alleviation of Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS): Grounding may help alleviate symptoms of EHS caused by exposure to wireless devices and electrical grids. Symptoms include headaches, fatigue, memory issues, and muscle discomfort (Elsevier report, section 3.4).

How to Ground Yourself

  • Outdoor Grounding: Walk barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. Moist grass offers the best conductivity, while asphalt, wood, plastic, and carpet are non-conductive.
  • Indoor Grounding: Use grounding sheets on your mattress for overnight benefits or grounding mats at your desk for daily use. Practicing yoga or fitness exercises barefoot on an earthing mat can enhance blood flow and oxygen transport (Mercola, 2015).
